Third Quarter — Iowa at Penn State

Posted on 26 September 2009

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Through three quarters, the Iowa Hawkeyes still trail the No. 5 Penn State Nittany Lions, 10-5.

The third quarter had no scoring, but it didn’t come without drama. Iowa sophomore defensive back Shaun Prater came away with a crucial interception of Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark. The Nittany Lions would get another crack at scoring after their defense got a stop, only to see kicker Collin Wagner miss a 48-yard field goal.

Iowa had a chance to respond after the missed kick and drove down into Penn State territory. However, junior quarterback Ricky Stanzi got intercepted on a tipped ball by Nittany Lion cornerback A.J. Wallace on a 2nd-and-23 pass play, keeping the Hawkeyes off the board in the third quarter.
