Posted on 19 October 2009

Iowa men’s basketball head coach Todd Lickliter said in a release sent Monday afternoon that Hawkeye junior Devon Archie injured his right shoulder during a team practice and will be out four-to-seven weeks for the Hawkeyes.

Archie is a transfer from Vincennes Community College in Indiana, and comes in at 6-9, 215 pounds. Last year at Vincennes, he started 19 of 30 games and averaged 6.8 points and six rebounds per game, as well as 1.3 blocks per contest.

Iowa’s season-opener at Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Texas-San Antonio is slightly less than four weeks from now, scheduled for Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. That game, along with the Nov. 17 bout with Duquesne, are both part of the CBE Classic.

The Hawkeyes also have an open scrimmage on Oct. 31 after the Iowa-Indiana football game, as well as a home exhibition against Marian University on Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
