Iowa running back Adam Robinson will miss the Hawkeyes’ game against Indiana on Saturday with a high ankle sprain, head coach Kirk Ferentz revealed on Tuesday.
The redshirt freshman from Des Moines suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Iowa’s 15-13 at Michigan State on Oct. 24.
Ferentz said during his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon he expects Robinson to miss a few games.
Senior offensive lineman Dace Richardson will be out for the Indiana game as well after breaking a bone in his left ankle.
“Dace, for sure, he’ll be out 4-6 weeks before he’ll get back to doing anything significant,” Ferentz said. “I think it’s safe to say we’ll have him for the bowl game. I think Adam could be in the same situation.”
Meanwhile, Ferentz compared Robinson’s injury to the one that kept tight end Tony Moeaki out of three games earlier this season.
“It’s pretty disappointing … but at the same time I have confidence in my team,” Robinson said Tuesday afternoon. “We still have four games left so that will give me some time to get back. I’m just trying to keep track of it and get back as soon as possible.”
Robinson also said he is optimistic he will be able to return before Iowa’s regular season ends against Minnesota on Nov. 21.
