The Iowa Hawkeyes have been invited to the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, The Daily Iowan has learned through several sources. The Yellow Jackets won the ACC championship after defeating Clemson on Saturday, 39-34.
This will be the Hawkeyes’ second appearance in the Orange Bowl, played on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Landshark Stadium in Miami, Fla. Iowa played in the 2003 Orange Bowl, where it lost to USC, 38-17.
Iowa was chosen as the at-large opponent after the Fiesta Bowl decided to select a battle of unbeaten teams in TCU and Boise State, both of whom hail from non-BCS conferences.
The Hawkeyes’ date with the Yellow Jackets in the Orange Bowl will be the first meeting ever between the two teams.
