A few underclassmen have overachieved so far for the Iowa men’s track and field team.
The Hawkeyes competed in their first combined event of the season with the squad taking two-day trips to both Minnesota and Arkansas for the Jack Johnson and Razorback Invitationals, respectively.
After Day One, several freshmen — namely Kyle Reid — have made some noise. Reid currently sits at 12th overall in the men’s heptathlon, after finishing as high as seventh overall in the 60-meter dash in 7:44. Reid finished in the top 12 of each event he competed in.
Other underclassmen have also made an impact. Five Hawkeyes finished in the top 25 in the 200-meter run, including sophomore D’Juan Richardson (23rd) and Iowa City native Kevin Dibbern (13th).
Dibbern recorded the fastest time for the Hawks.
Both meets will resume and finish early Saturday evening.
