INDIANAPOLIS — The Iowa women’s basketball team defeated Penn State in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal game at Conseco Fieldhouse on Friday.
The third-seeded Hawkeyes defeated the sixth-seeded Lady Lions despite the fact that junior Kachine Alexander fouled out with 3:39 remaining in the contest. Alexander scored 17 points in just 19 minutes of play.
Freshman Jaime Printy paced Iowa with 22 points. Printy also grabbed six rebounds and recorded five assists. Sophomore Kelly Krei scored 20 points, shooting five-of-seven on 3-pointers.
Tyra Grant led Penn State with 32 points.
Iowa will face second-seeded Michigan State in a semifinal game at 4 p.m. CST on Saturday. The winner will advance to Sunday’s championship game.
