University of Iowa Provost Wallace Loh will leave the UI this fall to become the next president of the University of Maryland, The Washington Post reported Monday night.
Since taking the UI position in 2008, Loh has help lead the university through massive changes, including last year’s budget cuts. Insisting the school would emerge “stronger and leaner,” he commissioned a set of reports to improve education while saving money.
In the last year, he’s taken a strong role in the university’s fight against dangerous drinking.
According to the Washington Post, he will start at the University of Maryland on Nov. 1.
