Pregame Notes: Iowa vs. Pittsburgh

It’s time for kickoff between Iowa and Pittsburgh here at Kinnick Stadium. Forecasts are in the 50s with highs in the lower 60s. Skies are overcast.

Here are some notable items for today’s contest:

-The Hawkeyes have responded to last week’s 44-41 loss to Iowa State with a couple changes defensively. Jordan Bernstine is back at illness and will start at strong safety in place of Collin Sleeper. Micah Hyde will move from free safety to start in place of Greg Castillo at the cornerback opposite Shaun Prater. Tanner Miller will step into the free safety position.

-True freshman John Lowdermilk is in uniform and warmed up with Iowa’s defensive backs during pregame. He would be the eighth true freshman to see the field this season if he plays today.

-Redshirt freshman punter Jonny Mullings is in uniform for Iowa, but quarterback John Wienke is still the second-string punter behind Eric Guthrie, as far as we know.
