The Iowa women’s basketball team (10-7, 2-2 Big Ten) lost to No. 19 Nebraska (14-1, 3-0), 77-72, on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa extended its 2-point halftime advantage to 44-36 with 15:43 left in the game, but the Huskers responded — in part due to their 3-point shooting.
“They hit 3s; we didn’t,” Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder said. “We had more shots on baskets than they did, but when you’re not converting them, it makes it tough.”
Nebraska finished 10-for-19 from behind the arc. The Hawkeyes struggled from 3-point range, hitting just 2-of-16.
Junior guard Jaime Printy led Iowa in scoring with 27 points, and junior center Morgan Johnson notched her second-straight double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Iowa has a week off and will return to action on Jan. 15 in West Lafayette, Ind., where the team will face No. 18 Purdue (13-3, 3-0).
