Blaine Gabbert completed 41 of his 57 throws for 434 yards — all of which were school bowl records. He was the architect behind the offense that put up 512 total yards on the Hawkeyes — the second-highest number any team has put up against Iowa all season.

Head coach Kirk Ferentz refused to comment on Adam Robinson’s status with the team following the running back’s Monday citation for marijuana possession in Des Moines.

“We hoped to run the football,” head coach Kirk Ferentz said. “I don’t think you ever expect to have your back at [219] yards.”

As with most spread teams, the origins of the Tigers’ success can be traced back to their quarterback, Blaine Gabbert.

“We have a lot of good combinations,” wide receiver Colin Sandeman said of the wide receiving corps. “It’s going to be exciting to see and to show you guys what we’ve been working on this past month. It’s going to be exciting for us because we’re kind of tired of practicing against each other.”
